“She Wanted to be Haunted” is out for Halloween at home this year! Written by the brilliant & hilarious @marcusewertwriter & illustrated by me. I love that in this time when celebrations look different, our friendships and collaborations look different, and Halloween is definitely going to be different, this book has found its way to help people celebrate or laugh together. Thank you to everyone who has brought it home from a bookshop or your library!
BTW: if you are in San Diego, there are still a couple days left to get in on @libraryshopsd’s #picortreat mural touring @sdpubliclibrary branches! They’re taking free polaroids for people who pose in costume & are selling this book to benefit the public library!

hey, it’s been awhile since i posted- i’m sure

hey, it’s been awhile since i posted- i’m sure the IG algorithm is going to suppress this accordingly (anyone else see the Social Dilemma??) but i hope you’re doing well & i have some good things to share in this time of daily corrosive news.

i made this painting when the wildfires in CA this year began, and it is on view for a few more weeks at Giant Robot (online)‘s plant show. and i’m in a spooky show at @everybodylovesrecess opening this coming week w @spoke_art.
my Halloween adjacent picture book SHE WANTED TO BE HAUNTED by @marcusewertwriter is having fun with people celebrating Halloween at home (thank you for keeping others safe, everybody!) — and also appears as a mural touring with @libraryshopsd around 15 different public library branches for #picortreatSD!

next month, i have a guided journal i’m INCREDIBLY proud of coming out called GROWTH: a journal to welcome personal change!!! it can be pre-ordered through @buyoly where you’ll get a free habit tracking print if you pre-order there.
other than all that, i’m doing the best i can to manage pandemic fatigue with election fatigue (please VOTE!!!) with bad news fatigue with what can only be described as carb fatigue.
what is bringing you joy these days?
me: my nieces and nephews, the occasional crunchy leaf, earl grey tea, geocaching with @mestenwatt. it really is that simple.

it’s strange that days continue to feel so much the same. but also i have news to share!

then, this friday, go behind the scenes of my studio / Q&A / book release party with @libraryshopsd during @sddesignweek (rsvp: tinyurl.com/bgpparty).

then! i will be a guest artist at @mingeimuseum’s Family Sunday leading a bat drawing tutorial.

meanwhile it’s been over 100 degrees here in San Diego & my state is in fire & we have over 6M cases in the US, so i’m still staying home, trying to keep others safe. still just taking it one day at a time. trying to get by in life. how are you doing?
