I woke up thinking about how i thrive on doing what i can do, rather than focusing on what i can’t. It made me think about how much i‘d normally look forward to an unscheduled day, week, or more at home — how it’s an opportunity to tie up loose ends or turn to projects i’ve been wanting to tackle.
when i designed this notepad, it was leaning into the idea of how a to-do list doesn’t need to be all work and no joy. and how it doesn’t need to all get done right this second either! but making a list can help focus on what you want your day to include, to make your life reflect what you want it to look like.
anyway, i’m looking for how i’ll navigate the stress and all that we are collectively experiencing right now & hoped this might give you a different perspective, too. there is no wrong answer on how we respond to such unknowns — what is your coping strategy these days?

i love this photo my awesome new friend @imagesbyamberr took while we were at @altsummit this past week, not just because it was a cool moment between us and a *hilarious* portrayal of “the artist as pure nervous energy”, but also because it’s just honestly who i am, all day every day. this is ME!!!!! a sometimes exhausted, sometimes fidgety lady going gray who needs to work on her posture but is still *always* on the verge of laughter, ready to try and learn and figure it out as she goes.
hi there, let’s be friends!!! it was both a fun and tough week. i don’t always feel like i fit in with the perception of what an artist is supposed to look or act like, especially being a woman of color, and it shakes me to my core when i feel like i’m being judged or excluded or like assumptions are being made about me. sometimes i feel invisible, sometimes i make myself invisible out of fear. but i’m glad i pushed through the nervousness and put myself in the way of fun. the rewards were huge: catching up with people i love like my incredible sister @wonderlilly and brilliant, beautiful @mateoilasco, and meeting some *wonderful* people i now adore (alt bingo club 🎩 @dervlakelly and @kmketchum i’m on it, “julie” @nicolebreanne, han @hanwriting, sareka @sarekaunique, roxy @wooden_wave and so many more cool creative people. and @luluthebaker thank you for making this happen in the first place and for introducing me to one billion of your cool friends, i wish i could carry you around in my pocket! you’re delightful)
all this while exploring where i have room to grow, getting inspired (follow @cyndiespiegel immediately), and learning from those willing to tell it like it really is. AND I GOT TO PET A GIRAFFE.
it was a fun and tough week, but it was a great week. 🧡
