Art at home

It’s been an interesting time to be a self-employed artist during a global pandemic. Different festivals, signings, and conferences I was to participate in have been cancelled, my art show openings have gone virtual, my online shop has taken the center stage completely — but I’m safe and well and enjoying working on my next book while enjoying online offerings like Creative Mornings Virtual events and Cave Day. I hope you are as well!

Amidst the pandemic, I’ve switched gears to offering more content online for people stuck at home. Every day for 30 days, I drew and posted a Stay-at-Home themed coloring sheet to my Instagram stories. If you missed them, my supporters on Patreon have access to PDF downloads of these sheets!

My publisher Roost Books is now offering a free download of the Spring chapter of I Love Dirt!: 52 activities for families to cultivate a love of nature. Many activities can be done with limited access to the outdoors.
Last, but not least, my picture books Little Muir’s Night and She Wanted to be Haunted can now be pre-ordered through your favorite indie bookstore! (Or in the case of Little Muir’s Night, ordered directly from Yosemite!)

She Wanted to be Haunted comes out on July 7th! Little Muir’s Night comes out August 11th (or is available online now from Yosemite during the National Park closures. Support your parks!)

YES I will happily gift wrap your order and include a note! Just let me know if your order is a gift and what you’d like it to say when you check out. There is no additional charge.

YES, unless they are pre-printed onto the product (i.e. my picture book) I will not include prices or receipts with my orders. So, if you’re giving your order as a gift, it will be packaged nicely and sent without a receipt!

YES: you can have your order sent directly to the recipient! Just specify their shipping address at check out!

NO: I cannot send one order to multiple shipping addresses. Please place separate orders for separate shipping addresses. If you need help with this, email me. I’m happy to help!

I will also be appearing here in San Diego at the San Diego Festival of Books next Saturday, August 24th. At 10:30 am, I’ll be in discussion with my friends and peers Salina Yoon, Andrea Zimmerman and Jennifer L Holm on a panel titled “Inspiring Imaginations: Very Young Picture Books” (Tickets are required) followed by a book signing at Mysterious Galaxy’s tent! RSVP.

Meanwhile, international art show WILD THING in Sydney, Australia at the Royal Botanic Garden is up for just a couple more days! The opening reception was wonderful, and I was honored to attend my first exhibit on the continent. If you’re in the area, please visit WILD THING from 10am-4pm any day until August 18th.
