April 12, 2018 art show, book signing

Fighting for my art, a new board book, and more!

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you’ve might have seen posts about my legal battle for my art and others’ over the past year. The corporations that profited off copying my artwork and others’ (Francesca’s, Express, OK Originals, and Orion Fashions) tried to get our case dismissed with an outrageously terrible, objectively hilarious argument…but, GOOD NEWS: the judge sided with the artists!

Now a legal precedent has been set that will help all future artists fight for their work! Check out this post for more (and more to come as our case continues.)

— Now for some book news! —

I’ll be signing copies of my books and doing an art demo at Independent Bookstore Day at the UCSD Bookstore in La Jolla. April 28th from 12-1pm. And I’ll be giving away stickers, so come on by if you’re in the area and support San Diego indie bookstores!

Then, in just two weeks, Stack the Cats will be out as a board book! Pre-ordering helps authors so much!!! So, if you know a little one who likes to eat books, please pre-order an indestructible copy or check out my next book, Balance the Birds! (coming 10/2)

I’m honored to have my picture book What Will Grow? by Jennifer Ward appear on several official reading lists: the Texas Library Association, the Cooperative Children’s Book Center of Wisconsin, and the 2018 Kansas NEA Reading Circle!

It takes years for me to make and illustrate a book, and it’s incredibly rewarding when those efforts are received well. Thank you for sharing my books with your reading circles!
