welcome to my new website!

I’m thrilled to announce there’s a new look to — welcome to it! I’ve been hard at work, and it’s all in honor of my new book, STACK THE CATS! which comes out May 2nd. This is my picture book debut as author-illustrator, and i’ll tell you, that’s just terrifying and exciting.

On May 20th, I’ll be visiting Crafty Wonderland in Portland, Oregon signing Stack the Cats from 12-3pm at BuyOlympia‘s pop up shop! If you haven’t been, Crafty Wonderland is an awesome market of handmade and artist-made goods. There will be free giveaway bags for the first 200 attendees, and you won’t want to miss them! So if you’re in the area, please come! and if you’re not in the area, stay tuned for upcoming events in Encinitas, Pasadena, San Diego, and Chicago!

Speaking of which… THANK YOU to those who came to my solo exhibition at Giant Robot! The reception was so much fun — and I loved especially chatting with each person who braved the long, slow line to get their books signed! Giant Robot is a gallery and shop that has supported my career for over a decade!  I’m so proud to be a part of the GR family and I always meet really interesting, creative people when I stop by. The show’s not up anymore, but keep them on your radar: 2062 Sawtelle Blvd and 2015 Sawtelle Blvd. in West LA

I was in the March Owlcrate and I designed *two notepads* exclusively for them! Artist Susie Ghahremani will return to Giant Robot for a solo exhibition of the original paintings from her picture book What Will Grow? and other recent artwork. In advance of this art show and book launch party, What Will Grow? has received three starred reviews from the School Library Journal, Publisher’s Weekly, and Shelf Awareness.

Giant Robot will offer What Will Grow? for sale within the gallery.
Meet the artist: Susie will be signing copies of her books at her opening this Saturday from 6:30 to 10pm.
The opening will also feature the launch of a new Boygirlparty pin, available in limited supply.

From Susie Ghahremani: “For this show and recent works, my paintings are focused on the combination of plant life and fauna united by patterns and soft, earthy color palettes. Much of my work is inspired by our National Parks and themes of conservation.”

Susie Ghahremani is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and a member of SCBWI (the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators). Susie independently designs and develops a whimsically illustrated stationery and gift brand titled Boygirlparty®, ranked among one of’s most popular shops. Originally from Chicago, Susie now lives in San Diego, California with her husband and zillions of pets.
